Isaiah tells the people that if they follow the demands of the covenant, then they will always be guided by the Lord.
The Gospel today asks Levi to follow.
These two statements from today’s Scriptures provide a sort of “Cliff Notes” insight into the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Lent is a graced opportunity to grab ahold of these two truths and live them anew. It is a special season the Church gives us to enter into a renewed relationship. We are on a quest to live out more fully a belief in a God who not only promises to guide us always, but also provides everything we need to ensure that we will never lose sight of our relationship with Jesus.
God speaks to each of us today: “I will guide you; follow me.” We were created through God’s love for us. Now God is asking for us to reconcile so that we can experience that love more fully. God sent Jesus as a fulfillment of the promise to guide us always. However, it is up to us to follow the guidance.
