Blessed Trinity 2021

Blessed Trinity Sunday 2021

Dear friends,

This Sunday we will be celebrating the solemnity of the Blessed Trinity. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We all remember in our days back in grade school when they would speak to us in regards to the Blessed Trinity, they always referred to it as a great mystery.

To make this mystery a little bit more understandable, if I can, I would like to concentrate on the whole idea of a relationship.

We learn in the Blessed Trinity how one cannot be able to function without the other, in other words, they need each other to function as three persons in one God.

One of the things I did remember and learn growing up was that the Holy Spirit will help you and guide you as you move along in the journey of life. It wasn't until my adult years that I realized that we really don't talk much about the Holy Spirit. And so I would like to do that now.

Whenever I think of the Holy Spirit the third person in the Blessed Trinity I think of a very good friend that guides me and leads me in the directions that I need to go. Sometimes that direction May abruptly stop, and I realize, that possibly this probably is not good for me. So I move on and continue with other ideas that will help me grow as a better person in Christ.

I teach catechism on Saturdays for 8th graders preparing for confirmation, and there is a common line that goes through the textbook, and I quote "how am I becoming the best version of myself."

It's a question that we have to ask each other every day, how am I becoming the best version of myself. Do I give myself to others freely caring for others freely?

I think what we need to do this week is to meditate each day on how am I related to the Father the Son and Spirit in my life. How does the Trinity guide me and lead me in decision-making in life? Sometimes we just know that there's something not right and we can feel it in ourselves, that in many ways is the Holy Spirit guiding you and leading you helping you not to make a mistake.

Lastly, Jesus said before he was taken up into heaven he said to go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and low, I am with you always, to the close of the age. " That in itself helps us to understand no matter what we do in life the spirit is always there with us.

You might want to ask yourself how is it in my own life that I am responding to the Spirit of God in what I do each day?

Peace and all good,

 Brother Ed
