Prayer of the Day
Brother Ed, OFM
Daily Prayer for July 5, 2019
Help me, Lord, when my life is out of control. We all have vices that we are trying to overcome, whether it be addictions to food, phones, jobs, cigarettes, social media, alcohol … no matter our “drug” of choice, help us let go when we can’t seem to help ourselves. Free us from those things that hold us captive. Amen.
Matthew 9:9-13
As Jesus passed by,
he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post.
He said to him, "Follow me."
And he got up and followed him.
While he was at table in his house,
many tax collectors and sinners came
and sat with Jesus and his disciples.
The Pharisees saw this and said to his disciples,
"Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?"
He heard this and said,
"Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do.
Go and learn the meaning of the words,
I desire mercy, not sacrifice.
I did not come to call the righteous but sinners."
Refection question: How will I show mercy today to others in need?
How can we pray for you?
Did you know that you can submit a prayer request to the Franciscan Friars here at St. John the Baptist Friary Fraternity? We want to support you in your daily prayers and join in praying for you and your loved ones. When you submit your petition to us, your intentions will be remembered at Mass and in the prayers of the friars.
