Prayer for the day:

It is easy to get caught up in the negativity we see every day on the news, Lord.  It seems the difficult thing we must do is break free of the cycle of negative thoughts in order to see the positives this life has to offer.  You have given us so much that we take for granted.  Let us not abuse Your gifts.  Instead, help us look for the happy moments in our everyday lives.  I pray these “positives” will spread throughout the world.  May we all face each day with a smile on our faces and show the world all the love in our hearts.  Amen.

Matthew 12:46-50

While Jesus was speaking to the crowds,
his mother and his brothers appeared outside,
wishing to speak with him.
Someone told him, "Your mother and your brothers are standing outside,
asking to speak with you."
But he said in reply to the one who told him,
"Who is my mother?  Who are my brothers?"
And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said,
"Here are my mother and my brothers.
For whoever does the will of my heavenly Father
is my brother, and sister, and mother."

Refection questions: How am I father, mother, brother or sister to others in my daily life?
